Policies

Refund:
Our diamonds (that we own) have a 2-week full refund less shipping starting from the day of purchase.
The shipping insurance could be a cost of $100-$300 depending on the value. We can provide that exact amount upon request. 
Diamonds that we out-source for clients still have a return policy but the timeframe depends on the policy of the supplier we get it from which is typically less than one week. In this time frame you will still get a full refund less shipping but less time to decide.

Note Regarding Settings and Holding Diamonds:
Please note that most settings take more than two weeks to complete which means you won't be able to get a refund on the diamond after two weeks have passed.
If you want to see the diamond in person before we start the setting, we are happy to ship it to you for viewing after is fully paid for.

The same holds true for diamonds held for clients. Ie. You can purchase a diamond and opt not to have it sent to you right away. This is perfectly fine and we're happy to hold it here for you till you're ready for the setting or shipping loose. However, our manufacturers do not have this patience, and we must pay them within their refund policy or no longer than 2 weeks if it's in stock diamonds. After 2 weeks of holding, we can't return or refund the diamond.

Note Regarding Requests for Additional Lab Reports: 
At Distinctive Gem, we inspect the diamonds in our own laboratory to verify that it is indeed the color & clarity that it is being advertised and sold as however we understand our clients feel more comfortable with particular laboratories. 
If you would like an already certified diamond to get certified at a different lab, we can in most cases accommodate this depending on what lab it is you have in mind.
Do note that there will be an additional charge to cover the cost of what the lab charges us and that it takes at least two weeks to complete which means no return/refund policy.
Please understand that the diamond is sold as is meaning if it comes in graded differently from the original, there is no change in price as well as no refunds or credit issued.

Trade Up:
For LG only, spend double and you can trade up unlimited times.

If you choose to purchase our products via a store, vendor or distributor, the policies set by that company will apply.

Custom Cut Diamonds are final sale and non-refundable/non-transferable.


Outsourcing Hand-Picked Diamonds:
We offer the service of outsourcing for you the best possible diamond within your parameters. We have instituted a policy in which we do not share the certificate of the diamond we have located for you. We invest a considerable amount of time nitpicking through specs and photos to find the best option for you. In the past, we have been taken advantage of by people using our expertise to find the stone, grabbing the cert # from us, and buying the diamond from someone else instead. To protect ourselves, we do not share it but if there is something specific that you are curious about from the certificate, just ask us. You will get the original certificate when the diamond ships to you.

Non-Branded Diamonds from the Search Engine:
We have two search engines under the "Diamonds" category on our menu labeled "Search All Lab Grown" and "Search All Mined" which we will allow you to pick without us. These diamonds reflect the lowest rock bottom prices.
There are some rare cases where diamonds that are ordered from our search engine are coming from wholesalers which are "final sale", and they do not accept returns nor are we able to ship diamonds back to them if they have no office in the United States. If you already placed an order do not worry as we can find out before we pay them and finalize the transaction in which we will inform you. If you are considering a diamond on our search engine and want to know that particular company's return period, simply ask and we'll find out. 

ALSO: from time-to-time, wholesale companies do make typographical errors. We are not liable for their typos and will of course let you know if that occurred in your transaction if you checked out with such.

We are internet only and our insurance does not allow us to meet in person. If you would like to view diamonds before purchase, we can arrange shipping them to you.


Engagement rings and Custom Jewelry are final sale and non-refundable/non-transferable.

Engagement Ring Policies


Arrival Time:
If you have a proposal plan in mind, tell us the day you are going to need this in your hands before we start so that we are all on the same page. The minimum time needed for completion is about one month. If you need something rushed for a specific day, we will of course try our best to get it to you that day but there is no guarantee. When giving us short notice, please have an alternative plan ready in case it does not make it on time.

Delays:
If you decide to change something such as finger size/engraving/any alteration while the ring is already in production, it will delay the arrival time by at least one week.

We Will Contact You for Shipping:
Once the ring is done, we will notify you to coordinate shipping. Due to our insurance, we cannot meet you in person under any circumstances.

Ring Re-Sizing:
If you receive the finished ring and there is something wrong or it needs to be resized, you must tell us right away. You get one free sizing. If you are not proposing until months after you receive the ring, you must tell us that so we can note in our system in case it needs re-sizing after.

Your Personal Item Must Be Insured:
If you are sending us your diamond or gemstone to have us set for you, we insure the item during transit only. If in the rare case the item was damaged or stolen outside of transit, we are not liable for this. We encourage you to get it insured beforehand.

Insurance Replacement:
If you are using Distinctive Gem Inc. for insurance replacement, legally the Insurance Company becomes the client while you are their client. Once you've signed legal contracts with your insurance company like "Confirmed Completion" forms the sale is consummated/completed upon your submission of that signed document which is legally binding and there are no refunds to Insurance companies. Their legal contracts cannot be undone.
If you don't have an insurance company and need one, we recommend Jewelers Mutual.

 

Shipping Policies

DOMESTIC SHIPPING WITHIN THE UNITED STATES 

  • All packages are shipped via FedEx with signature required and are fully insured while in transit. If you are not available at the time of delivery, FedEx will not leave your package at your door and will reattempt delivery for the following 3 days.
  • We can ship to a authorize FedEx Office Print Office Ship Center holding center to accommodate your schedule if requested. FedEx will hold the package up to five business days after receiving and please note that photo ID is required for pickup.
  • FedEx does not deliver to P.O. (Post Office) Or PO/APO/FPO or Walgreens/Office Depot/ Or any kind of lockers.
  • Due to the high value of our packages, we will not ship out orders until we confirm the shipping details and address with the customer.  Expect a follow up email from admin@distinctivegem.com after your order is placed and before we ship to you to coordinate the most convenient time for you to receive your package. 
  • If you are returning an item to us, you are responsible for the return shipping.  If however, you'd like our assistance in getting your item(s) back to us with a pre-paid FedEx insured shipping label we are happy to accommodate you. We'll give you our shipping rates and provide the label once you pay for that via www.paypal.me/jonathanweingarten 

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING OUTSIDE OF THE US. 

  • Customers living outside the United States will be responsible for any VAT, duties, taxes or other surcharges charged by their home country. Please make sure you are aware of this and make the necessary inquiries to confirm the taxes and duties with local authorities prior to placing an order with us.
  • Recipients of orders shipped outside of the United States will be responsible for any and all costs associated with import taxes, customs duties, or fees levied by the destination country.
  • We will provide an AUSFTA form filled out for our Australian customers and NAFTA form for our Canadian customers as needed.
  • Orders shipped outside the United States will be charged an international shipping fee of $150.00 so that your package is full insured during transit.
  • All International orders will be shipped via Federal Express and are fully insured.
  • Packages can take 1-7 business days for them to reach your country. Sometimes there are delays at customs if they lose the paperwork or the customer is not willing to pay their duties/taxes. These cases are rare but once the package is out of our hands it's up to you to simply follow the laws of your home country.
